Victoria Hautala comes from a long line of artists and craftspeople. Working in various mediums, theses creative souls have inspired a lifelong appreciation of art and of all things handmade. Her art is informed by a degree in studio art and her past career which included several aspects of theatre production.
Primarily a painter of theatrical scenery, Victoria has also worked in costumes and stage properties. These professions have shaped both the materials and methods of her current mixed media work. Present favorites include paper pulp, plant materials, textiles and wax.
Victoria’s work tends to be simple in form and aims to touch that “common chord”. She believes that the appreciation of a piece of art is akin to finding one’s tribe.
